in the full forecast, and heather o'rourke will have the roads. >> good morning, jeff, and welcome. this was the northbound side near 18w, and the accident was cleared away. the traffic was being diverted off to the eastern spur. the new jersey transit, metro north, and long island railroad, all are schedule. if you're going to the bqe, northeast into mcginnis humboldt street, it's right before the bridge. farther east, there's more construction, and we do have construction at the george, lincoln, and holland. be aware of that. minor delays, and street

we start with break news in brooklyn. a shooter son the loose after gunning down two people as they sat inside of a car. it was in bed-stuy. darla smiles -- darla miles is live for us. >> reporter: i have spoke to the family members here, and and fresh. he was the father of a 1-year- old son. you can see a number of shell casings on the ground and at the mercedes suv. we have a closer look at the crime scene, happening just after 1:00 this morning here in bed stuy. what we know so far, the 33- year-old was in the car with a 22-year-old woman.

and opened fire. the 33-year-old was shot in the face and neck, and he was taken to interfaith medical center, and he was pronounced dead. the woman is in stable condition after being shot in the torso. this incident is still under investigation. at this point the nypd has not identified the shooter, but you know anything about the in the area the time. 1-800-577-tips. >> darla, thank you. a burglary suspect was shot by police. police were called after the homeowners allegedly caught felix perez on nanny cam. we spoke to several

thing i thought, did it come from my house? is everybody okay? the next thing i thought about was neighbors. >> perez ran from the house, but he was quickly arrested. me has a long criminal history, and he was just released from prison in june after serving time for burglary. it's not clear what charges he will be facing for yesterday's incident. officials are warning people to part of miami. it's focused on the windwood arts district where 14 people have been infected. crews sprayed for the mosquitoes overnight. >> reporter: good morning, ken, the city health department is focusing on college point, flushing, and white stone for the first round of mosquito spraying. they said they are doing it because they believe there's a strong presence of the mosquito which carries the zika virus in

is charged with killing jeffrey oakly. at least two people were killed in the flooding in ellicott city, but there were 120 water rescues reported. massive rain fall on saturday is being called the one in 1,000 year event. the storm dumped 6.5 inches of rain on the city, most of it in just 90 minutes. two restaurant customer die oned main street. the owner of the re glad that most everyone got out, really, and you know taxer building. it's material. it's the people who matter. >> reporter: senator barbara mckulskey toured the town and said they need federal funding to restore the town.

here's jeff smith. >> reporter: it's been an unsettled pattern, and we have had quite a bit of rain in the tri-state area, and the drought is coming to an end across a lot of the area right now, and a live look across the east river, and here's what is going on on our local radar during the last through hours, and thunderstorms mainly north of new york city. it's move into ulster county, putnam county, the next hour or so before we clear things out. we could see the sun by late morning. here's our planner. 71 by 8:00 in the morning. temperatures trying to rise in the low to mid-70s by around midday. a quick look at what is happening over the next several days in terms of a chance of rain. 10% through friday and the biggest chance, unfortunately the first day of the weekend. we will talk about that in the

4:43, and new this morning, police released new images of a subway attacker who was wearing an mta uniform. was approached from behind, and the suspect seen in the video had a sharp object put to his back. the suspect had on a blue mta shirt. if you recognize him, call police. took two men just moments to decide they could not watch a man drown after he drove his

thunderstorms early this morning. this is from islip to montauk. the radar picture, and you can see the showers and thunderstorms well north of the city. there was a nasty cell here that is still over northern fairfield county, about to cross into new haven at i-84. following that to the west, and there's a scattering and shower of the thunderstorms into the scatskills. county, just north of i-84. here's the future cast as we head throughout the day. you can see the shower and thunderstorm activity breaking out into the east. there's times where there could be a spotty shower north and east of new york city. a nice day of pressure setting up for tomorrow. occasional sun, and a spotty shower mainly north and east.

partly sunny, and somewhat less humid in the afternoon. a nice day shaping up for tomorrow. the high around 80. speaking of nice, how about we do it again on thursday. mostly sunny, the high of 81. the afternoon high this time of the year, the mid-80s. this is not too bad. warm and humid on friday. above average at 86. i think during the daylight hours on friday, we have a lot of sunshine. friday night we can get a shower or thunderstorm in the area. there's a betterch friday, the high up to 88. a couple of thermometers could reach 90, especially inland. monday, 83 under a lot of sunshine, and lows into the 60s at night. we could be doing a lot worse. finally a lot of much-needed rain in the area. it was a moderate to severe drought, and i think it has come to an end over the last few days.

of traffic? >> we do not. unfortunately a new accident to talk to you about. near exit 16 at cedar street in new rochelle. that accident will tie up traffic the longer it sits out there the ed koch, upper level going into manhattan, and that accident is also being taken care of. new jersey transit, metro north, and m. train ands l. trains track work until 5:00 are looking over here at the george washington bridge. the inbound lower level has construction. the outbound lower level has construction as well. a couple of lanes are closed down. only minor delays inbound at the george washington bridge that is something to think about, and obviously it's e- zpass only.

a person of interest in an unrelated case. the lawyers for dillon roof, the man charged with mid- ing a church bible study group have file ever file -- have filed an appeal to the death penalty. defense lawyers say they will drop the challenge and roof will plead guilty if the prosecutors take the death penalty off the table. it out brawl. dozens of people were in the park in hudson falls, many playing pokemon go. the person filming labeled it a pokemon go brawl and posted it to youtube. the people there said it wasn't all about the game at all. >> they got out of their car

a curious bear on the hunt for food is caught on camera, hitching a ride on a garbage truck. a firefighter in new mexico shot the cell phone video which is now going viral, and it shows the brown bear on top of a large garbage truck, and fortunately the quick-thinking driver backed the truck up next bear was able to climb down safely. >> the bear was just looking for a ride. he couldn't get an uber, and he hitched the ride on the garbage truck. you're smart. meteorologist jeff smith now with the forecast. >> reporter: we are wag the thunderstorm activity well north of new york city, especially north of fairfield

thank you for joining us. i'm ken rosato. it's tuesday, august 2nd. and you're never more than seven minutes away from weather and traffic. >> reporter: the thunderstorms are roaming across the lower and mid-hudson valley, and a flood advisory for north eastern sullivan county. 6:45 in the morning. we have had showers and storms over the same area, and that's flooding or ponding in those parts of the woods. it was a particularly nasty cell that headed over fairfield county, connecticut, into new haven, and it was south of 84 in that area. these can last through the next couple of hours before we try to break out into some sunshine, and that's by later this morning. temperatures getting up to 73

was just after 1:00 this morning. darla miles is live at the scene with reaction from the victim's family. >> reporter: that's right, ken and lori. we are just learning the victim is a 33-year-old father of eight children, ages 1 to 8 years old, and family members say that's his suv, the black suv he was sitting in when gunfire broke out overnight, year-old earnest brown, and that's who the victim has been identified as. in this photograph you can see he is leaning up against the black suv. police say 33-year-old brown was sitting in his black suv, double parked here, when a gunman walked up and opened fire. the 22-year-old woman sustained a gun shot wound to her torso.

to 19% for christine quinn. it's 5:07. you're never more than seven minutes away from weather and traffic. jeff smith is in for bill. >> reporter: muggy out there this morning, guys as we look at the lower manhattan area. the temperature in the low 70s, and let's check out the radar picture. the storms we are really following during the i-84 corridor, moving through cloud-to-ground with the heavy downpour over oren orange into sullivan and ulster. part of a flood advisory for the next hour to hour and a half. temperatures rising into the middle 70s as we head throughout the morning hours, and probably about 72, 74 degrees by 11:00 a.m., and we could see sunshine after that point with the morning clouds. the showers and thunderstorms moving north of the city during the next couple of hours. rain chances over the next

for bill with the accuweather forecast. >> reporter: and weather should not be a problem for the subway series at citi field. temperatures low to mid-70s, and right now, we do have problems north of new york city, and we have some thunderstorms out there, temperatures right now, 71. the wind from the east at 6 miles an hour. pretty sticky humidity at 75%. the normal high, 84. probably only up into the upper 70s today. the record was 100 in 1955. little while. setting at 5:10 this evening. muggy out there today, and maybe a spotty shower after the batch of showers and thunderstorms exits the region early this morning. maybe still a spotty shower north and east of the city as we head into the afternoon. nice weather for tomorrow and thursday. lower humidity out there. and the humidity and the thunder threat return by the weekend, and i think it does get warmer and more humid on friday. a better shot during the day on

a couple of locations. 72 at teterboro and laguardia airport. upper 60s on the island from islip to montauk. there's a flooding advisory in effect. basically the north eastern half of sullivan county, and we have had downpours, just kind of sitting over the same spots, and you know what that means. there will be ponding of water close of the i-84 corridor, and south eastern sullivan county getting the downpour, invading northern orange county right now, and the cell is about to cross the hudson river right now from ulster county, and there were nasty storms over northern fairfield county contract, and thankfully they have weakened a bit, but there's a downpour south of i- 84, and they can make their way down to bridgeport.

little bit of sunshine into the afternoon, but there still can be a spotty showers, but very isolated. especially north and east of new york city. here's the forecast map, spotty shower today. a ridge of high pressure sinking in from new england. accuweather forecast, humid. morning clouds breaking for occasional sun, and 79 for the high. partly cloudy tonight, down to 67, and partly sunny. less humid in the afternoon tomorrow. the high to 80. has a great -- that's a great day for this time of the year. on thursday, warmer and more humid on friday. highs in the middle 80s, closer to normal for this time of the year. a thunderstorm on friday night, and there's a better shot i think on saturday. could be stronger storms with the high around 90 for a couple of locations, and then still warm on sunday, and clearing out. mostly sunny next monday. high in the lower 80s.

injured. 33-year-old earnest brown was in his mercedes suv when he was shot with a 22-year-old woman. he was pronounced dead and the woman is in stable condition. we are live on the scene as police continue to search for evidence and the suspect. we have new reaction from the victim's family. that's coming up. a burglary suspect was shot by police inside of a queens home. police were called to the home after the homeowner allegedly caught felix perez on her nanny cam. suspect was inside. perez started to struggle with the officer, and the officer shot perez in the groin. >> the first thing i thought, did it come from my house? and is everybody okay? the next thing i thought was about the neighbors. >> perez ran from the house, but he was quickly arrested. he has a long criminal history, and he was just released from prison in june after serving time for burglary.

stop the spread of the zika virus in the u.s. the new york city health department joined the cdc ing a travel advisory for southern floridaed due to zika. the warning is for a one square mile area of miami. kristin thorne is live in college point queens where officials sprayed for mosquitoes overnight. good morning, kristin. >> reporter: good morning, lori, the city health department is focusing on three neighborhoods in queens for the first ro spraying of the summer including here in college point, flushing, and white stone, so why these three areas? the health department says they have reason to believe that these areas may carry a high number of the mosquitoes which carry the zika virus. as you mentioned, lori, again the city health department taking an unprecedented step, issuing a travel warning to people in our area not to go to
